Fall has definitely arrived. The chill in the air, darkness lasting longer each day, and the leaves crunching on the ground are all signaling that the time has come for the season of cold. I wish I could say that I am a big fan of winter, but I'm not. I love certain things about it like the fact that I spend more time at home with a good book under a comfy throw, but going out into the blustery weather and the long hours of darkness are tough on a person.
I have compiled a list of 5 different things that you can easily to do make your home feel more cozy as the temperatures start to fall.
Flannel Sheets: Change your bedding to flannel. The feeling of getting into a soft, warm bed seems to make the chill of the air fade away and comfort just takes over. It is a simple thing to do and flannel sheet are very reasonably priced. It is worth the splurge to feel warm and comfy. Also, with the increases in cost to heat your home, you can drop the thermostat a couple of degrees and save some green that way!
2. Himalayan Salt Lamps: I am a crazy huge fan of Himalayan Salt Lamps. The glow they give off is amazing and they help to remove impurities from the air, which can be good for allergies. They come in a variety of different colors depending on the color of the salt, but most give off an amber, white, or pinkish glow. They are so comforting! I have several around my house and I keep them on all the time. Also, bonus, we will be selling them at the Koselig shop so come check them out!
3. Candles: Another really inexpensive, but amazing way to feel cozy in your home is through candles. They come in a variety of scents and price points so you can have a variety. Due to my allergies, I prefer clean burning soy candles when I burn them. They are easy to find and while they might be a little more expensive than some candles on the market, they usually burn a little slower so they last longer. We will be selling some beautiful candles in our shop and I highly recommend the Chai or the Tobacco Vanilla for a fall scent!
4. Comfy Throws: Who doesn't love a cozy throw on a cool night? From knitted or crocheted to fuzzy fleece, you can find a variety of handmade and store bought throws to best suit your needs. A blanket is the ultimate comfort item and its truly no wonder that kids have their special blanket from the time they are little because truly, do we ever get over the need for a soft blankey?
5. Sweet and Salty Snack Mix: Have you tried the mixture of cashews and candy corns? If you haven't, it's time! I am generally not a fan of candy corn, but the combo with cashews is quite tasty and definitely worth a try. Set a container of this mix in a bowl in your house and I will bet that it doesn't last long. It is a fun, simple snack that screams fall! If you become addicted, don't blame me.
There you have it. 5 simple things you can do to make your home a little more cozy for the fall season. It's all about comfort this time of year, but it doesn't have to be time consuming or super costly to get the feeling of autumn in your home.
