With thoughts of Christmas swirling in my head, I decided to start creating some pieces for Studio Share at The Loft. The decorating couldn’t begin without some stops at the thrift stores for much needed pieces. Now, I know what you are thinking…
Thrift stores just have old junk!
But, that is NOT TRUE. You just have to be able to walk into one, see past the junk, and find the treasures. And there are always treasures!
My findings included:
A basic Christmas greenery wreath for $1.99 (would have had to pay $10 or more at Hobby Lobby)
A table top tree that was in excellent shape in a silver pot for $4.99
2 bags of brightly colored plastic ornaments (perfect for spaces where kids will be) for $1.98
A white glittery metal basket for $1.99
That puts me at just over $10.00 for items I would have paid over $50.00 for at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Those are savings worth smiling about!
I haven’t used the glittery basket just yet, but soon, I will be decking it out in Christmas splendor 🙂
Here are a couple of the creations I made with my thrift store buys (I used some ribbon that I already had on hand too).
Total price for these 2 Christmas items: about $8.00 (subtracting the $1.99 basket since I haven’t used that yet)
I am going to be bringing these pieces to The Loft this afternoon. Tomorrow, I am hoping to post the mixed media art pieces that I made for the space. They are super cute and very bright!
Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE finding thrifty deals 😉
