Salt lamps are probably one of my favorite decorating items. I love the warm glow they give off and they provide a calming feel to a room. Since I am allergic to smoke, I have to be careful with burning candles, but I love the look of candles so to me, salt lamps are the way to go.

1. Salt lamps help to cleanse and deodorize air. Himalayan salt lamps purify air through the power of hygroscopy, meaning that they attract water molecules from the surrounding environment then absorb those molecules – as well as any foreign particles they may be carrying – into the salt crystal. As the HPS lamp warms up from the heat produced by the light bulb inside, that same water then evaporates back into the air and the trapped particles of dust, pollen, smoke, etc remain locked in the salt.
That is really cool! Seems like something so simple, but it can really have a positive impact on air quality in your home.
2. Reduces allergies and asthma symptoms. Sufferers can feel a difference within a matter of a couple of weeks.
3. Better sleep. Himalayan pink salt lamps are natural negative ion generators. This helps to increase blood and oxygen supply to the brain, allowing for better sleep quality. Keep one or two around your bedroom to improve the air quality so you can get a better night’s sleep.
You can always turn the lamp off at bedtime, if you don't like the light in the room at night. Just leave it on for the rest of the day so it can do its work while you’re awake.
These benefits are great, but honestly, even if they didn't have health benefits, I would still use them all over my house because I love the look of them.
